The world order and economic boom that took shape after World War II begins to unravel, and a new era of uncertainty begins. Free trade, globablization and regionalism converge with the rise of feminism, aboriginal claims, growing multiculturalism and the explosion of computer technology. Canada's new charter begins to have an impact, while debate around Canadian unity intensifies with the Quebec referendum, repatriation of the Constitution and the Meech Lake Accord. The series finale concludes with a poignant reflection on the country's historical experience and the currents that Canada will have to navigate in the 21st century.
