Allan s'envole vers New York, où il doit passer la semaine avec son père. Il rencontre Frieda, fille handicapée d'un important homme politique. À l'aéroport, il reste avec elle en constatant, avec désarroi, que son père ne l'attend pas. Or Frieda est poursuivie par des escrocs et Allan va se trouver mêlé à un trafic de statuettes égyptiennes. Les deux jeunes tentent de semer les voyous à travers les rues de New York.
